Marilla Cub Scouts Hold Family Picnic
Cub Scout Pack 290 of Marilla held its annual family picnic at the Marilla Town Park on Aug. 15. The event has turned into a highlight of the summer for many Cub Scout families. Every year the picnic seems to grow in popularity as more games and activities are added. This year, the boys and their families gathered at the shelter for an afternoon of fishing, visiting and playing games.

Scout troop searching for new quarters
A local Boy Scout troop is looking for a new home. Up until July, the youths in Scout Troop No. 1168 met weekly at The Landing Church of God, at 1640 Hwy. 42 N. in McDonough. But when the church’s financial situation changed last month, the group was asked to find a new place to meet, said Mike Katona, leader of the two-year-old troop.

Cub Scouts learn, show respect for the U.S. Flag
TROY — With the tune “Reveille” in the background, 10-year-old Julian Texeira worked the rope to slowly raise a new American flag in front of the Griswold Heights Community Center. Texeira and 12 other boys of the Griswold Heights Tenants Association (GHTA) Cub Scout Pack #350 participated in a formal ceremony Tuesday afternoon to retire and replace the flag.
