Any tips on how to run a Boy Scout Space Derby?

12:11 am in Boy Scout Q&A by

Out Pack is attempting to run our first one in a couple of months. It is going to be really informal, but I wondered how it differed from a pine car derby. My main question is about tracks, launchings and verifying finishing, but any suggestions are great. Thanks!

For the webelos/cub scouts Pinewood Derby car race, is the scout supposed to apply sealer to the wood first?

10:05 am in CS Q&A by

Does sealer get applied to the wood car (cutout from the wood block) first, or does the yellow (or green) paint get applied first?

Both the color paint and the sealer/paint came in the custom finishing kit. The instructions aren’t clear.
